NYC MAY WARMTH CERTAINTY - Good morning everyone! The sun has returned today and we're expecting a beautiful but breezy one before clouds return and a rainy encore. However, there's a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow in the form of some real spring-like temps throughout the area.

Look for sunny skies, a stiff west wind, and seasonably mild temps today; with most areas in the 65-70 degree realm. Clouds return tonight as a compact low pressure system heads our way from the southwest. Expect a raw, rainy day tomorrow, with east winds and highs 55-60.

For the weekend, clouds and widely scattered showers linger for Saturday, but a southerly wind will help get us back into the mid 60's; possibly upper 60's if we can squeeze out some extra sun. Sunday will be cool and breezy, with highs only in the mid to upper 50's. That's the last of the cool weather for a little while though as a ridge begins to build on the east coast.

We're back to normal on Monday with sunny skies and low to mid 60's, then the mild air really starts to ramp up. Look for bright sunshine and mid to upper 70's Tuesday, then highs in the upper 70's to low 80's for Wednesday. Depending on how much warm air makes it in, we could even see some mid 80's, maybe a few isolated higher readings, on Thursday.

Obviously we play the coastal game to see what the beaches and East End of Long Island can achieve, but even if they don't see upper 70's and 80's, they'll be well above normal and mild as well. So get out there and enjoy it, because it looks to come to an end briefly that weekend with a slow moving frontal system and cooler temps.

In the ultra long range, mild to warm air fights back and mid May is looking very spring-like.
