Long Island Weather Perfect Apple Pumpkin Picking Weather
After a volatile week that included an all time October record high temperature Wednesday (89 at Islip) and 90 degree highs in Northern Nassau & NW Suffolk counties, plus a raw ocean onshore flow and a 40 degree temperature change in 24 hours, we have settled into normal October weather that will be ideal for doing outdoor things this weekend. Other than a few passing clouds we are going to see clear skies for tonight. The satellite picture shows us mainly in the clear and what clouds there are will thin out. There is nothing on the radar to worry about through Sunday.
SATELLITE
Tonight we will have clear skies and it will be coldest night we have seen since back in May. Morning lows will be in the low to mid 40s island wide however if the winds drop off, areas in East Central Suffolk County away from the ocean will see temperatures drop into the upper 30s. We should stay above levels that would produce the first frost.
Saturday will be a beautiful day with lots of sunshine with highs getting back to around 60 or so. It is a little cool for this time of year but I don't think we will see many complaints. Saturday night the high to the north goes to our east and it should be clear for much of the night though some high clouds could arrive before daybreak. Wind will be slowly going around to the south and that will hold temperatures up slightly. Most lows will be in the 40s to near 50.
Sunday brings a south to southwest wind, some clouds and some sun as well. Temperatures will respond by climbing up to the upper 60s to near 70. The next cold front is a slow mover and we could see showers on Monday as the front approaches. The best chances will be later in the afternoon and at night. Highs will be in the 70s. The front will pass and Tuesday through Thursday will be nice with sunshine each day and highs in the seasonal 60s. There are no major storm systems to worry about through next week.
