Are there any other weather geeks out there? The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is roll over, grab my phone , and check the weather for the day. Everything I do seems to depend on the weather. I love tracking winter storms and hoping they hit our farm. I like knowing when the tides are coming in and out at the beach. I even like when precipitation goes from green to yellow and red!

In this post, I'm going to share with you some of my favorite apps and websites for all things weather. Please share with me what apps or sites you like to use and we can nerdout together!

National Weather Service http://www.weather.gov/
Why it's great? You are getting your weather directly from the source. This is the place where the other places get their information. Many of the people that work here have degrees in meteorology. There are no ads on this site and it's free. You can customize your location and get temperature and precipitation outlooks 3 months out.

Open Snow http://opensnow.com/
Powder hounds: Check out the conditions for your favorite mountains, get forecasts, and powder alerts for when the gnar is going to be super shreddable.

Magic Seaweed http://magicseaweed.com/
Surfers, pick out your favorite surf spot, check the weather, look at webcams, track the tides.

Favorite Apps:
Weather Underground - On the daily, this is my go-to app. It gives you a detailed hourly forecast and has radar imaging that will also show you the projected path of storms. Another nice feature tells you not when the sun goes up or down, but when it will actually get dark. This comes in handy when I want to go out for an evening run.

NOAA Radar Pro (Android: Free; iOS: $3.99) - You are also going to need a good radar app. Radar Pro offers real-time radar images and mapping and notifications so that you don't get caught off guard by a snow storm, or a flood!

Weather is fascinating. Do you know anything about weather manipulation like China did before the Olympic Games in Bejing?

You are being followed by a coin puppet!

Please follow it back ;)

No, I have not. My husband made snow using a power washer once! Weather manipulation is a tiny bit scary but also pretty cool. #science
