Police Announce USD $29 Million In Cash Found In Raids On Ex Malaysian PM's Properties! What???

More than $22 Million in cash of various currencies was found in the recent police raids on Malaysia's embattled ex PM.

Finally the police are starting to make statements about the enormous amount of money, handbags and jewelry confiscated from properties associated with Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansour. During this entire episode the Malaysian public watched in amazement at the opulence of these two and comparisons to Imelda Marcos are everywhere.

$29 Million in cash stuffed in your house! What? Thats insane! The smell of corruption and greed is strong in this story however that was only the cash recovered! The value of the handbags and jewelry is yet to be calculated but estimates by some commentators are putting this in the hundreds of millions of dollars!

Finally we are starting to see the greedy and corrupt being pulled down. This quantity of money is far above what Najib and Rosmah combined have officially earned in their entire life time as civil servants!

The Plot Thickens!

Although Najib has been blacklisted from leaving the country and grilled by investigating officials twice, he has not been detained... yet!

This is a tricky investigation for the nation. If all the worms are spilled from this can then many will fall and more than half a century of crony capitalism will need to be analyzed. Yet the new government has been swift in taking action and things do seem to be progressing swiftly.

The noose is tightening and with good reason! The DoJ in the US has declared the investigation into billions of dollars stolen from the 1MDB government fund managed by Najib to be the largest kleptocracy case ever. There are many questions that need to be answered and one of the first is what was Najib doing with $22 million in cash of various currencies tucked up in his properties? This is going to be difficult to explain...

Bogus Explanation For Money

However today the defeated political party UMNO has stated that the money was theirs and was campaign contributions from donors for the election. They have politely asked for the money back! What fools! They are trying to save Najib's neck while putting theirs back on the line. They are also greedy and want to get their hands on the money!

Several things don't make sense with this explanation:

1. Why was the money in varying currencies?
2. Why did Najib have it in properties where his children were living in the first place? What happened to using banks for millions of dollars? Who is checking that he kids weren't spending any?
3. If the cash had to be stored at his properties what kind of security was there for such a huge amount of money?
4. What about all the jewelry which has yet to be valued?

This find of millions of dollars at Najib's properties fits the allegations of massive corruption that have dogged him over the last years. I'm sure many Malaysians will be interested to see what kind of jewels and accessories Rosmah had which have yet to be valued.

The implications of this investigation are global lets see how many heads will roll!
