Chicken tinola in ampalaya leaves
Good morning my steemit family, today im gonna share a recipe that my father's teach me. This is not your typical recipe of chicken tinola that uses sayote or chayote veggies in english, sayote is rich source of dietary fiber, antioxidants, iron, phosphorus, zinc, potassium, copper and vitamin c,b1,b2 and b6. In this recipe i will teach you how to cook a tinola version with a twist, that instead of sayote or chayote veggies we will use amplaya or bitter gourd leaves with less bitter taste on it.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 30-40 minutes
Servings: 5-6 servings
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 kilo chicken wings
fresh ampalaya or bitter gourd leaves
garlic and onions
ginger
tomatoes
fish sauce
4 cups of water
knorr chicken cubes or magic sarap to add flavor
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.)saute garlic and onions until it turns gilden brown
2.)add ginger and tomatoes, stir
3.)put chicken wings and add fish sauce, stir and let it cook for about 15minutes
4.)add knorr chicken cubes to add flavor, add water and let it boiled for about 15 to 20 minutes
5.)after the chicken meat is cook add the ampalaya or bitter gourd leaves, just blanched it do not stir and then turn off the heat, the leaves will cook easily and it will not taste bitter
6.)serve it hot and enjoy
Like most other veggies ampalaya is low in calaories, it is rich in vitamin A, iron, vitamin C and folate that promotes cardiovascular health. Must try this recipe, easy to prepare and healthy for your family.
