"Are You Eating Well?"

Food is good for our health and the type of food which we eat determines our well-being some foods are proteinous, carbohydrates and so on. In all we do healthy eating is important which is what I have shared in this post.


🥙 What is healthy eating for you?

Healthy eating, for me, is about balance and variety. It means eating different varieties of foods with essential nutrients such as protein, minerals, vitamins, healthy fats, and carbohydrates. Healthy eating for me is all about me practicings the following:

Whole foods: Eating processed foods, such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats.

Moderation: Is about me enjoying all types of food in moderation, without overindulging in anything, especially foods with too much sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats.

Mindful Eating: Is about me paying attention to hunger and fullness cues. That is eating slowly and enjoying the food without any form of distraction.

Hydration: Is about me drinking plenty of water throughout the day for me to stay hydrated.

Finally, healthy eating is all about eating good food, that can boost my physical and mental health thereby supporting my overall well-being.


🥙 How much fruit and vegetables do you eat?

Every day of my life, I try possible best to eat fruit. It is advisable to eat at least some portion of fruits and vegetables every day in my case it is fruits that I consume more than vegetables.

When it comes to fruits I do eat, two servings of fruit such as banana, apple, cucumber, or watermelon 🍉.

As for vegetables, I do eat some steamed vegetables, greens, salad, ugwu. Most of the way that I eat a vegetable is by using the vegetable to prepare the soup.

I do eat fruits and vegetables when I have the money to purchase them, but I do try my best to eat at least one fruit each day, eating different fruits and vegetables provides us with different nutrients.


🥙 How to take care of yourself not to ingest too much sugar and salt

To take care of myself not to ingest too much salt I do make sure I adopt the following strategies to manage my intake of sugar.

I do read labels carefully:

Sugar: I do look for added sugars on the label, which are mostly mentioned as syrup, fructose z glucose, or other sweeteners.

Salt: I do check for sodium content.

Cooking at home

Cooking at home allows me to have control of my food and how I want my food to taste. When it comes to drinking tea, I don't use sugar In my tea.

Use Alternatives

For sweetness, I use honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and other natural alternatives. When it comes to salt, it is spices, lemon juice, or herbs to enhance the flavor without adding sodium is what I usually used.

By making small consistent changes, I can significantly reduce my intake of sugar and salt which will make me enjoy my meals.


🥙 Do you eat junk food very often?

Yes, I do eat junk but not often. I do buy junk whenever I have money to purchase junk food and I like to keep junk food at home because it is time-saving and stressful to me. Having junk food at home usually relieves the stress of cooking often as whenever I am back from school I will just get junk food for myself and begin eating.

Concuerdo mucho contigo amiga, para mi una alimentación saludable también se basa en tener un equilibrio y variedad en todo lo que comemos, proteínas, verduras, vegetales, legumbres, granos, frutas, etc ya que solo así podremos tener todos los requerimientos necesarios para el buen funcionamiento de nuestro organismo y por ende una buena salud.

Yo pienso que para comer sano y evitar los excesos de sal, azúcar, comida chatarra debemos cambiar nuestros hábitos alimenticios y comer más en casa, ya que así sabemos lo que comemos y la calidad de los ingredientes que usamos.
