Coinbase overcharging issue

For anyone impacted by the coinbase overcharging issue, it appears to have just been a technical error and erroneous transactions will be remediated. Here are some links to helpful information / articles.

It is interesting to see the blame game between coinbase and Visa. As someone with experience in the credit card industry (close to 10 years providing services to some of the largest financial institutions in the world with a particular focus on the credit card space), it is more likely that the changes made to the MCC codes by large banks are at the root of the problem than Coinbase.
