The Diary Game (6/22/20): A Busy Monday

Introduction

Hello everyone! Today was an unusually busy day for me, but I am excited to share all the glorious details of it. Once again, a special thanks to @cmp2020 for introducing me to Steem and #TheDiary Game. Without further ado, let's get started!

My Day

I unexpectedly woke up at 6:30 from a dream I can't recall. After groggily checking the time on my smartphone, I drifted back to sleep until my alarm went off at 10. When I got up for real this time, I eased my way out of bed and browsed through Reddit. During this time, I also looked at a CNN article my dad sent to me about how it is rumored that Apple could make their own chips for its Mac computers. Here's the link for anyone interested in reading further: https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/21/tech/apple-mac-chips-wwdc/index.html

A quarter to 11, I had the same breakfast I usually have each morning, which is a bowl of chocolate granola cereal and a healthy glass of milk. After finishing breakfast, I brushed my teeth, washed my face, and put on clothes in preparation for working out. If you couldn't already guess, I'm the type of person who likes to stick to a routine and try not to deviate from it. This includes my workouts. Today, I did three reps of 30 sit-ups, three reps of 15 push-ups, a plank for 1 minute and 20 seconds, 30 minutes of cardio on my elliptical machine, three reps of 12 arm curls using two 8 lb. weights, and two reps of 14 arm raises using the same 8 lb. weights. In terms of cardio (elliptical) work, I ran a total distance of around 3 miles. Before and in between these exercises, I always do some static stretching.

When my workout was over, my dad asked me if I wanted to take a walk around our neighborhood, and I obliged. It's nice being able to get out of the house once in a while. We walked for around 25 minutes until I decided to go back home since I needed to shower still and it was really hot and humid weather wise. I tried to explain to my dad what Steemit and cryptocurrency are during my walk, but he seemed confused and low key ignored me by changing the subject to college. It's alright though, I love my dad because I'm grateful that is supportive in all of my endeavors (even if he doesn't fully understand what some of them are exactly).

Once I got out of the shower, I put on my Ibrahimovic jersey (which is featured in my #SteemGreet Intro Post) and had lunch. Like yesterday, all I had was a basic turkey sandwich on sourdough bread. We have a lot of fresh fruit and berries in the house at the moment, so I also had a bowl of delicious blueberries. Right after I finished lunch, I asked my mom to take a picture of me in my jersey holding a Adidas Brazuca (2014 official World Cup match ball) along with my sloppily handwritten sign. After a few comical attempts, she eventually took a good picture on around the fifth try.

At 3, I started watching the Manchester City vs. Burnley match. I only had one player in my Fantasy Premier League (FPL) team who played (Kevin De Bruyne), but he is my captain, meaning that he gets double the amount of points. Unfortunately, the Bald Fraud (manager Pep Guardiola) heavily rotated the side as only 3 players, including the goalkeeper, started both games this matchweek. De Bruyne eventually came on as a substitute around the 60th minute, but alas, he only earned a pitiful two points for making an appearance in the match. City cruised to a 5-0 against Burnley in a complete non-spectacle of a match. My updated FPL rank after the game is now at 198,030 out of 7,540,499, which puts me in top 2.7% of all FPL teams in the world! I plan to make a post in the near future explaining how FPL works, how to play, and why you should join for next season.

From 3:30 to 4:30 (during the match), my mom and I watched a virtual town hall meeting of Penn State officials answering commonly asked questions regarding returning to campus in the fall. I didn't really take away much from the meeting since a lot of specifics still need to be determined. The most notable thing I learned was that the on-campus hotel, the Nittany Lion Inn, will be used to quarantine students who test positive for COVID. I later learned from Reddit that this meant most of the Inn's staff will be laid off due to the hotel not being open and used for regular operations. On the more brighter side, University President Eric Barron said that students who return to campus in the fall will have mostly in-person classes, albeit socially distanced and capped at a maximum of 250 students. He also suggested the possibility of socially distanced crowds at university sporting events, which would possibly include (American) football games. I hope to have a semi-normal college freshman experience at Penn State in the fall. Then again, nothing about a global pandemic is normal, and we all are dealing with similar issues.

At 5, I joined a Facetime call with three of my friends (including @rasmuffin), so we could talk to each other while watching episodes of Avatar the Last Airbender (ATLA). I already have watched the series twice, once as a kid and once more recently, but I love being able to experience the show once again with my friends and see their reactions on their first watch. We used a Google Chrome extension called Netflix Party, which I recommend downloading on your computer if you want to watch Netflix with friends remotely.

Like most other nights, I ate dinner with my family at 7. My mom made Chicken Picatta as the entrée and white rice and broccoli as the sides. We also had fresh berries, which included strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. I'll have to remember to take pictures in the future of my family dinners, so you all can see my mom's amazing home-cooked meals. After dinner, I snacked on some chips and guacamole from Trader Joe's. For dessert, I had chocolate candy pieces (knockoff M&M's that are way better), which were also from Trader Joe's. Again, describing food without providing pictures is a rookie mistake; I promise I'll try to be better in the future.

That's all for today, but make sure to tune in each day for my #TheDiaryGame posts!
