Pulling Up Walls in Pottery
I worked on another pot today in my morning class and was able to pull up the walls of the pot to a higher height. My pictures may look like the same pot, but trust me, the pot is bigger and different to the discerning eye.
I thought that I had my clay in the car, but I left it at home so I was only able to complete one pot today in class. I wanted to work on making a narrower but taller pot on the second sample but that will have to wait. I will have less clay to trim from this pot than from my previous samples.
I got a little excited and I can't wait to practice pulling up the walls some more.
Notice the extra clay around the bottom of the pot that I was able to pull up and thin out. If I had a larger sample of clay, then I would have been able to pull it up higher. I am still working on centering a heavier piece of clay, but it is not that easy. I will be able to get a lot more practice in next week. I put that heavy clay in my trunk so that I will be ready during the next class.
Enjoy your evening.
