Making a Jade and Leather Necklace
I went through my stones this morning trying to decide what piece of jewelry I could make. I re-discovered this lovely jade pendant that I bought several years ago. It's been so long that I can't remember where I bought it.
I decided to use leather as the holder for the pendant because I want to wear it with casual clothing.
I used a long silver head pin through the bottom of the stone to hold it in place on the leather cord. I also added a couple of small green beads at the top and the bottom of the stone.
I made a simple circle with the head pin rather than use a standard pendant holder. I wanted this necklace to be very simple in style. I actually tried to use a different leather cord that was smaller, but it would only go half way through the stone.
I added a slip knot on one side at the top of the leather cord. I would have made two slip knots but my leather cord was not long enough to accommodate two. I can slip the necklace over my head to put it on and it hangs at just the right length.
Enjoy your day.
