NO VALUE
"A person who has given up all desires for sense gratification, who lives free from desires, who has given up all sense of proprietorship and is devoid of false ego—he alone can attain real peace." Bhagavad Git As It Is 2.70
Sounds like someone who is dead. No desires. No sense of ownership of anything. What is their pleasure in life? Srila Prabhupada who is the translator of the Bhagavad Gita As It Is comments:
"The living entity cannot be desireless or senseless, but he does have to change the quality of the desires."
The quality of the desires...the quality of the sensual engagement. What does that mean? What is meant by quality? Quality and value are closely related. So we can substitute the word value... What value is there in activities that have a beginning and end? "Oh but it was fun while it lasted?" But then what? Such activities actually have no value.
They have a beginning
and an end. finished.
So ultimately they have no value.
Something of value has permanence. People who deal with money are always looking for an investment that will store value. Won't diminish, deplete or disappear. Something to hold on to.
The quality or value being alluded to here is in relationship to the Supreme Being. Activities in relationship to the Supreme Living Being have value eternally. Since the Supreme Being has no beginning and no end activities done in consciousness of the Supreme Person also have no beginning and no end. There is ego but no false ego. I am part of the supreme Being. There are desires but they are not on the platform of temporary activities. There is no sense of ownership since everything is owned and controlled by the Supreme Person... we are allowed usage only.
