MAHABHARATA CHAPTER 30 AFFLICTION IS NOTHING NEW

in #krishna8 years ago

"The great sage replied: "Do not let your mind dwell on sorrow. Arjuna will return with divine weapons and you will conquer your enemies in the fitness of time. You say that there is no one in this world that is as unfortunate as you. Now, that is not true, though everyone, tried by adversity, is inclined to claim pre-eminence in sorrow, because things felt are more than things heard or seen."

A little while ago I read and recorded a simple version of the Mahabharata by C. Rajagopalachari. There are about 100 short chapters. it is an abbreviated version. The original Mahabharata is very very long. But it is written very nicely and fairly easy to understand and follow. the Mahabharata is actually a history of ancient India. Five thousand years ago there was a world war in which all the leaders of the civilized world were killed. Millions of soldiers died also. When they fought it was in a designated area, not like today where the civilians are attacked. Only the soldiers fought. the entire world changed dramatically. The way governments worked etc. It was turning point in human civilization. They also had nuclear weapons but the weapons were launched by mantras. They had weather weapons also. But their sciences were more subtly controlled, mostly by sound. But no less effective. Just a different type of science. I hope you find this series interesting and valuable and it helps to broaden your horizons.

What is hinduism?

The word Hindu is a very old word which refers to a group of people who lived on the shore of the Sindu River in India. They did not pronounce the S, but instead used H.. Anyway that is my understanding of the where the word Hindu comes from. These people based their religious practices on the Vedic scriptures which are a vast storehouse being handed down from very ancient times. Before there were written texts it was passed down by oral tradition. Hidden within the Vedas is the path of spiritual life and culminating in love of God, Krishna, which is not limited by religious traditions. Hope that helps..
