INCREASE YOUR VOTING POWER?

in #steemit9 years ago

Unless you are one of the very few who earns $2000 every time they sneeze on Steemit you need to build your voting power and start to earn rewards for curation.

Since Steemit is not just a spectator pastime but everyone participates, in order to become successful it is necessary to see how to increase voting power. The more voting power the higher the rewards for the upvote.

Voting power is determined by a number of factors. I am not clear on all the technical details but roughly it calculated by the amount of steem in the account, the value of seem on the trading market. Not sure if number of votes per day is a factor or if reputation enters into the equation. Maybe there are some other factors too? Just don't know. But certainly the most weighted factors are

  1. How much steem you actually have in your account. Which means, SBD, steem and steem power.

  2. What the values of the steem and SBD are in the open market.

I don't have any control over the value of steem or SBD in the open market.
But I can accumulate steem, SBD and steem power in a number of ways.

I can write super-power-house-take-the-house-down-bowl-'em-over posts... and get 1000's upvotes for a reward total of $2000 every time I put something up there. For me... not too likely to happen any time too soon.

I post carefully and enjoy posting the topics I do share. I get a few votes here and there sometimes some comments. I always try to upvote meaningful comments. There are some bots out there that upvote everything and anything. I like to avoid upvoting them.

Since I'm still a minnow, it has been a couple months and the account is building slowly, but I have to be careful with upvotes.
If I manually upvote something either a post or a comment it goes full 100%. My account can't tolerate more than 10 upvotes at 100% in one day without losing voting power and dipping into the depleted category.

I have a found eight or ten steemians who post consistently good content and also reward nicely for an upvote. I think that the reward is an important factor. That not only is a post of good quality but that it rewards an upvote nicely. I don't think that is greedy or compromising integrity in any way. I think it is an integral part of the Steemit experience and managing a blog nicely means rewarding your supporters.

The time to post an upvote is also important. Unless it has been changed recently, if I upvote before twenty minutes the payout ratio is weighted against me. But if I wait too long to upvote the payout reward is also wrighted against me. So right about 20 minutes is ideal to maximize the Steemit experience.

But I don't know when exactly my favorites are going to post. How can I be expected to sit in front of the monitor all day to upvote the best time? I have one favorite who hasn't posted for a week. Must be on a vacation or something.

Here's where steemvoter comes in.

I list my favorites with steemvoter. I have steemvoter set to my preferences and when one of my favorites posts... steemvoter will wait 20 min and then up vote it automatically. I can go back a few hours later check my account, read the post and comment if I want to.

Voila...

I'm always checking new blogs and the list changes as I try someone new and give someone else a little rest.

This is my list of date.

Interesting, I will check it out.... 20 minutes, hmmm / upvoted

Thanks your post, I am a minnow too and I can allure to your points. I have heard that if you have less than 500 followers all your votes will be at a 100 percent.

When you have 500 or more, then you determine how much percent you vote.

My advice, keep doing what you do, keep writing great posts as once someone finds value in your post, that's a great reward in itself.

True... And I was wondering how the percent thing worked (100 percent or less), interesting

Thanks for the support. I am willing to share what I have learned and don't claim to be an expert. If someone else can use it great. We have a good thing going here. Here's to everyone's success...

I think you should learn a bit more about how voting works before trying to explain how it works...

If you have others answers, I welcome them, ty

I am willing to share what I have. If someone can expand it that is good. But just to put someone down says a lot about that person. They are sour and have nothing to offer. @pizzachain

Are you talking about me as sour and having nothing to offer? You're quite mistaken then! I don't like these crappy posts of people who don't even try to inform people with useful information, but rather go for pure money. I'd be willing to accept that if they atleast read about the subject and can give good information.

Am I sour&having nothing to offer, just because I give someone "rude" advice? I don't think so.

I notice you upvoted your own comment.
And yeah, giving someone rude advice pretty much classifies as sour, and stating your opinion in such a way won't add anything to a discussion unless you offer some information to support that opinion, especially when you prescribe someone else's course of future action.

So I upvote my own comment? Then what? I should've upvoted your's? My 100% votes give only about 1 cent anyways... There are these guys upvoting their own comments with $1+

Well, then I'm sour in your opinion. I don't feel like giving "rude" advice means I'm sour. Anyways, you're free to express your opinion I guess..

But I do not agree on your statement that I don't contribute anything to the discussion. Giving good advice, rude or not rude, does contribute to the discussion. And you can't deny that my advice was good, although one could perceive it as "rude".

Thank you for taking the time to share this info. Can't speak for everyone but I find this kind of post extremely useful.

It's not simply the voting power system...I am lost but finally, I will understand.Thank you for the details and for your time to write this article.

Wow! This is all new world to me. I've noticed my voting power going down and this is how I came across your article. I have been upvoting too many posts 😊 now I know and will work mpre wisely. Thank you for sharing.
