This was great exercise! Filling sand bags.

It didn't feel all that great yesterday. But today. Great!

The back of the house can fill up like a lake. Everyone elses roof water seems to like to come here. I made a little levee a few years ago but it hasn't been tested by a big rain. Just to make sure I used a bunch of little bags I made for the papayas a few years ago. I didn't know why I was saving the bags but they were all hand sewn and I was sure they would come in handy for something. Filling with gold coins maybe? They didn't protect the papayas from the fruit fly. So that was a flop. Plastic bags over the fruit worked much better.

So here they were... a lot of cloth bags just right for filling with sand. Which just happens to be piled up in an empty lot four houses away. It was the sand cleaned out of the storm drain earlier this year. Hopefully that will keep water from coming side the house even if there is a lake back there again.
