Inside Capitol Building - DC

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

On one of my many trips to DC, I was able to do a tour of the Capitol Building. I previously did a post on the beautiful Rotunda, but here are some more shots of inside the building.

The first shot is a statue of John Gorrie. Gorrie's statue was given to the Statuary Hall, the site of this photo, in 1914. He is considered to be the "father" of air conditioning and of refridgeration.

The second shot is of the office of Speaker of the House Paul Ryan. Ryan has been the House Speaker since 2015 and was elected a member of the House of Representatives in 1998. He also ran as a Vice Presidential Candidate for Mitt Romney in 2012, only to lose to President Obama and VP Joe Biden.

The third shot is of a plaque inside the flooring of the Capitol building honoring the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. It is assumed that it is the location of where his desk once sat.

The final shot is of a plaque honoring the passengers and crew of Flight 93. This flight was one of the planes that was highjacked on September 11, 2001 in plans to crash it into the White House or Pentagon. However, crew members and passengers fought with the highjackers, setting the plane off course and causing the plane to crash in order to save many lives. Truly one of the most honorable acts i've ever seen.

If you ever make it to Washington D.C., I suggest you take a tour of the Capitol Building.

Excellent photography bro.

What a nice detail they have considered placing a plaque in honor of the passengers and crew of Flight 93; I had the opportunity to see the film that was created at the root of this event and I think that this still fails to reflect the anguish that these people experienced at that time, it fails to reflect the strategy that was developed by these real heroes of the air and its final decision. Obviously, it is impossible to know how those moments lived inside that flight really were. Thanks for the information @jgullinese. I really did not know it. Greetings.
