Simple tips to boost your productivity

in #life9 years ago (edited)

A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that I was drowning with all the things I had to get done and I wasn't doing, and it was very frustrating. I could spend a couple of hours thinking about all the things I needed to do, and which one I was choosing first, and before I noticed half of the day was already gone.

After spending some time reading about productivity techniques and making some discoveries by myself, here is a list of things I apply on my day to day and that helps me accomplish all my tasks:

Keep a notebook at hand, write everything down

One of the first things I started doing and I find very useful is writing all my tasks in a notebook I keep in my desk and I carry in my backpack when I go out. List them all, from simple tasks to complex ones. I started taking more advantage from this advice since I started to write things I need to remember, a nice quote I read in some article, ideas that come to my mind, sketches, suggestions and recommendations for my client's websites, basically everything. This not only helps you remember everything you have to do, but also helps you organize your thoughts. Also, when you start striking out/ticking your tasks, you will feel some satisfaction looking at all the things you've already done.

This was the first sketch I made when I thought about creating Mark Steem Down. It was made all of the sudden one day at 1am.

And this was me the next day trying to get the sorted list of Mark Steem Down to work.

Find your productivity peak during the day

Haven't you noticed that there's a moment in the day when you can do everything you want in a matter of minutes? Well, that's your productivity peak. I noticed it, and start taking advantage of it before knowing that this moment has a name and a bunch of biological theory behind it. Once you discover at what time in the day your productivity peak occurs, make the most of it, don't let anything nor anyone to interrupt you during this period of time. You can use it to work in a very complex task, or finish many simple ones.

Plan your day, in the night

When your day finishes and you're about to sleep, take a moment to think about all the things you need to do the next day. You can write all this things in your notebook, or simply think about them. This will help you avoid having to waste time thinking about what you have to do the next day, and having an action plan in mind.

Don't sit in the computer without a plan in mind

This is very dangerous, avoid it above all things. You can easily start wasting your time checking your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Steemit, etc. Time you can use finishing simple tasks.

Try with music

I'm not talking about peaceful and quiet music, no, that's boring and will make you sleepy. Listen to your favorite music, or if you use Spotify, try some new playlist in the Charts section.

That's it. I hope you find these tips useful!
