The Sun, our star!

in #science8 years ago

We live at an interesting neighborhood, Solar System Street! The principal energy supplier is a powerful star, the Sun. The Solar System is centered in the Sun, the brightest sphere in the sky.
The Sun is the largest source of electromagnetic radiation of this neighborhood. The neighbors of this street sustain their life and activities, thanks to the powerful attraction of a huge invisible force that we know as gravity, this prevents our neighbors from dispersing or moving to "other neighborhoods".
It was formed about 4600 million years ago from the gravitational collapse of matter within a region of a large molecular cloud. Most of this matter accumulated in the center, while the rest was flattened into a disk in orbit that became the solar system. The central mass became increasingly dense and hot, eventually leading to the start of nuclear fusion in its core. It is believed that almost all stars are formed by this process. The Sun is more or less of intermediate age and has not changed drastically for more than four billion years, and will remain fairly stable for another five billion years.
Its average temperature on its surface is 9941 °F, but at its core, the temperature can be millions of ° F.
This story will continue, soon more data will come about the Sun. Vote if you want to know more about our solar neighborhood!
