Summer Solstice is today!

in #science9 years ago

Today is the longest day of sunlight in the Northern hemisphere. Likewise it will be the shortest day of sunlit for our friends in the Southern hemisphere. From January through today we have been gaining about 1.5 to 2 minutes per day of extra sunlight. The trend will now start going in reverse. We will start losing the same amount of minutes per day of sunlight until December 21st.

This coming Saturday the 24th will be the " Midsummer Day". This is the halfway point between the planting and the harvest.

Happy summer! Check out my views of New York City, etc on this wonderful first day of summer from my most recent post!

We will lose the sunlight day by day,but the night is lovely too.
By the way,in China we call today "XiaZhi",means the summer is coming tomorrow!

Awesome. Thank You
