What is Canyoneering?
Canyoneering or Canyoning is travelling through canyons using a variety of techniques that may include hiking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, sliding, rappelling, and swimming. Although non-technical descents such as hiking down a canyon (or gorge walking up a canyon) are often referred to as canyoneering, the terms canyoning and canyoneering are more often associated with technical descents, which require rappels and ropework, technical climbing or down-climbing, technical jumps, and/or technical swims. This footage is from a recent trip down Little Santa Anita Canyon in the San Gabriel Mountains of Southern California during "Class C conditions."
