Dear Diary,
EARLY GRADE MATHEMATIC ASSESSMENT
On Monday, while the children are copying a lesson from the board, I started the assessment. I need to find strategies so they will be quiet while I am having a one-on-one assessment on math. This is not recorded but the report will be submitted to division office and also it will help me to know the strength and weaknesses of my pupils .
There are corresponding activities divided into 12 tasks. It started with reciting numbers 1-100 then counting shapes from 0-100. I realize the importance of it when it comes to helping children familiarize numbers at an early age. When they reach kindergarten, they will be taught the basic counting and familiarization of numbers from 0 to 100. Parents at home are a great help,too, introducing numbers before they enrolled in school.
There is an electronic record in every task of the pupils. Some tasks are timed for a minute. The maximum time allotted per tasks is 60 seconds only. If the child can't count within 5 seconds, I must proceed or not with the next tasks. The electronic recorder will decide if the child passed the task and can or can't proceed to the next tasks.
It was a bit challenge for me because I am managing my time with my class to resume while having an assessment. I was trained to do multi-tasking. I was also challenged to manage the environment and find ways so other pupils will not be noisy while I am having an assessment.
One day is not enough to finish my 40 pupils. I will consume two days for this so I can make a report and finalize the results. In the morning I randomly pick names both boys and girls. I need to finish this preliminary assessment so we can proceed to the our class.

You are such a hard working teacher, I can imagine the stress you go through, but the good thing is that you can multitask atleast that will help you control your children better.
