"Time to Grow Up"
Our history in the South, is
Filled with so many contradictory
Elements of history.
From the gracious living of the elite
Plantation owners, to
The degradation and offense of
Human Bondage.
So much great literature has come
Of this dichotomy;
Poetry and art, inventions and
Innovations as well.
Where would we be now if
That Era and those events that
ENDED IT hadn’t happened?
Would we be better off now?
We certainly wouldn’t be the same.
If only we
Could retain the lessons learned and put
All the residual hatred and resentment
Behind us.
We have grown, we have
Become better, so why can’t we
Act like it?
Are we really still
Having growing pains two
Centuries after the fact?
It really is time to
Grow Up.

When I first posted this in FB 3 yrs ago, I had some People
Jump down my throat because to them I was justifying slavery.
This was not, and will never be my intention.
I only mean to illustrate that without or history, good or bad,
We would not be who or where we are today, which is better
Than it was
