March 9, 2020--Practice Blog
I am a day off. We spent a lot of time yesterday spring cleaning and freaking our dogs out. But the floors are vacuumed, cracks are caulked, and some stuff has been put away. It is a work in progress.
Today began like a Monday. I got to work early and spent time preparing for a Music History class on Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Scores copied, themes identified, lecture ready. Student did not show up. Well, at least I am ready for Wednesday now. Spent the next hour preparing for my noon class. Music Appreciation on the use of film music. Scores copied, themes identified, lecture ready. Students decided to talk over the top of my lecture and presentation. Finally just cancelled class and told them to be ready for the exam on Wednesday. It is going to be fun. I then had a rehearsal with a singer for his recital. The choir director cancelled choir this afternoon, so I had an hour and a half at the organ. Good times. We had Scottish Rite rehearsal tonight. Last one before I confer the 18th degree on Saturday. Wish me luck. Then had Chanter's rehearsal and came home afterwards to a dinner of leftover Korean barbecue chicken, peas, and pot roast.
On the piano, I practiced some accompaniments.
On the organ, I worked on BWV 622 and started work on 623. 622 is much harder than I thought it was going to be. I have 6 days to get it ready.... I also worked on the fugue of BWV 536 and the Finale from Vierne's Symphony No. 1.
