Film in a digital world.

in #photography9 years ago

I mentioned in a previous post that I still shoot some film. I did also mention in my intro post that I haven't picked up a camera with intention in a long time. I've just been not feeling well and not feeling it. So I don't have anything new and spectacular.
But I do have some shots from the last time I developed some...
--you should know this about me, I'm very scatterbrained at times. So even when there is the extra money to get my film developed, I often can't find all the rolls that need to be sent in because I put them in 10 different places. And most often there just isn't extra money to get it done --single-autism-mom life. :) I have the intention of sending off the 4 rolls I currently have, soon, but in Jenny-speak, soon can mean after New Years... in the meantime:

-btw I have several film cameras because I can't pass up a thrift shop camera, but these were all shot on disposables.

These first three were taken at Barefoot Beach in Bonita Springs 3 years ago. My youngest son looks nothing like this now! lol He's really grown. I want to get large prints of these to hang in my living room. Soon ;)

I was seriously disappointed that I didn't frame this one better. Just moving it down a little it to get the head of his shadow would have been perfect.

Gavin loves the beach as much as I do. For the Print of this one I will crop his brother out, of course.

Here are my boys walking along the path at Turkey Strand Preserve in Fort Myers. Ah, grainy film!

I just really dug these trees.

Alright... that's probably enough. I promise I'll get those rolls developed soon. I have some Gettysburg and some from yesterday along the Clarion River in Pa...and a roll so old I have no idea what is on it. :)

It's cool to see some film photographs, it's been so long! It makes me feel nostalgic. Film is such a cool technology. I wonder how long it'll be possible to send film in for development.

I hope a long time, but it's already harder and harder to find places who will develop it. I love Mpix.com for 35 mm film. You pay a small developing fee, couple bucks per roll and they send you the negatives. They put low res images on line for you to look at and then you can order prints from that, which is a great way to save money on developing because we all know there can be crappy shots on your roll :)
Thedarkroom.com is great for medium format film, 110 and other sizes that most people don't develop anymore.
I've always wanted to learn to process my own, I think that is up next on my list of hobbies :)
