Fashion and clothing in the Philippines refers to the way the people of Filipino society dress up in instances such as while they are at home, at work, travelling and when attending special occasions.

We from the Philippines are called Filipinos and we have a lot of culture and traditions that we still portray until today especially wearing of the traditional dresses for men and women. For women wearing the Maria Clara gown and for men wearing the famous "Barong Tagalog". This is also called as "Philippines National Costume."
The María Clara gown, sometimes referred to as Filipiniana dress or traje de mestiza, is a traditional dress worn by women in the Philippines. It is an aristocratic version of the baro't saya. It takes its name from María Clara, the mestiza protagonist of the novel Noli Me Tángere, penned in 1887 by Filipino nationalist José Rizal. It is traditionally made out of piña, the same material used for the barong.

The traditional Baro't Saya was worn by the lowland people in Filipinas. It includes the blouse called "baro" and a skirt called "saya". It is the Archetype of every Filipiniana dress that has evolved throughout the colonial era of the Philippines. Today, the dress represents the rural life in the Philippines.

This is my very 1st time wearing this dress because we don't often wear this kind since Philippines is a tropical country and the "baro't saya" costume is not suitable for a hot temperature so we just dress it officially when needed but the fact that this is our traditional dress is such a great pride and honor.
This was taken three years to be exact during my 10th year of service as an employee in a BPO company and we are acquired to wear something formal than ordinary like the MARIA CLARA attire.
With me on my side is one of our big bosses in the company he is also wearing the "Barong Tagalog" actually he is not a filipino in real blood but he likes to visit here often times and he loves to wear the barong tagalog.
The "Maria Clara and Barong Tagalog" costume is often worn by the people who are in politics or politicians as they really look good and more important when wearing it. They are more dignified if they'll wearing the traditional costume than the usual kind of dress that most Filipino do. And also the barong tagalog is often worn in weddings and special occasions too.
The wearing of the traditional dress shows that Filipinos are still practicing and embracing the filipino cultures that our great ancestors has lived behind and above all in this new generation where most of the people are into comfy clothes or comfortable clothes still we don't deny the fact that wearing such kind of traditional clothes and dresses will give us more pride being a filipino.
Oh before I forgot the price for the whole dress that I'm wearing is 1,150 php or 3sbd that's not too much for the whole package already since others pay much more than I have paid for that dress.
Thank you so much #SteemWomenClub for making such great contest that will surely give us more ideas and information that we will surely benefit.
Traditional clothes and the local dress of today is way different but what matters most is how you look and how you feel on the dress your wearing maybe in other ways they are a bit different but the fact remains that it's your choice just wear the proper attire for the season and surely no one will ever notice/criticize you.
Thanks for dropping by. Have a blessed day. God bless and keep safe always!
