Substitute some ingredients in your desserts

Hi friends, I hope you are well, as I have already mentioned in some of my previous post I talked about healthy sweets and that it is best when we prepare them at home, so we make sure to substitute ingredients, lower the amount of sugar or Include fruits and even vegetables in their preparation.

Some of the ingredients that we can substitute are:

  • White sugar: to sweeten our preparations we can always choose fresh fruit, such as banana or apple compote, or dried fruit such as dates, dried apricots, prunes or raisins; foods that bring sweetness naturally. Stevia can also be a good option and, occasionally, we can also use sweeteners such as raw honey or coconut sugar, which has a lower glycemic index.

  • White flour: the ideal is to opt for whole grain flours such as oats, spelled, rice, quinoa or buckwheat.

  • Butter: extra virgin coconut oil can be a great substitute for butter in pastry recipes, is a healthy fat with a consistency very similar to butter, endures high temperatures and, moreover, brings a sweet flavor to the preparations , they can also be the creams of nuts, like the one of peanut or the one of sesame since these are nutritious creams that, in addition to contributing texture, also add their touch in nutrients.

  • Cow's milk: luckily today we find many types of vegetable milk that we can use to replace animal milk, including oats, rice, almonds, coconut, sesame, quinoa and other types of nuts and cereals . Coconut milk or almond milk are ideal when preparing sweets, as they usually combine very well with all kinds of ingredients, you can also replace the milk with coconut water and so the result will be much fresher.
