When Your Chips Are Down

in #motivation7 years ago

There are some times when you are just tired. Your intense schedule, which you sometimes actually think you have under control, feels like it's beginning to get the better of you.

You're fatigued, and you've got things on your mind, and inevitabilty in the swirling ordered chaos that is life. It's during these moments when we want to relent the most. And it's during these moments that we must instead redouble our efforts.

No one's going to do it but you, whatever "it" is. No one is going to carry you across the rising tide. You must learn to swim.

I'm not saying not to take breaks or take care of yourself. You should definitely do so. After all, you've only got one you. But consider this: those things you feel, that tiredness and frustration, may be you growing in the same way that a runner being out of breath means he's pushing his limits.

Whatever it is that you're aiming for, it's going to require effort and, chances are, it's going to require quite a lot of it. But if you're work is where your heart is and you know that you're doing the right thing, even all the effort you put forth will feel light as a feather, nearly effortless.

But even then there will still be times when it's hard. So hang in there. I'm rooting for you.
