Space Mountain

My favorite ride in Walt Disney World's the Magic Kingdom is Space Mountain. An exhilarating indoor roller coaster that takes you through the darkest depths of the universe. Situated in the Tomorrowland portion of the park and housed inside a futuristic building, the Space Mountain roller coaster is the ultimate inter-galactic adventure ride.

Space Mountain opened in 1975 and is the oldest operating roller coaster in all of Florida.

The queue line for Space Mountain is very cool (not only the air conditioning). As you enter the line you walk through a series of tunnels that resemble the interior of a spacecraft. The lights give off a glowing blue hue and it feels as if you are walking through a real space station.

The line could get very long for Space Mountain. We luckily caught it right as the park opened at 9:00 AM and later had a fast pass in the afternoon. It was definitely a successful day at the Magic Kingdom because by the time we left I got to ride Space Mountain a total of 3 times.

The initial launch of the roller coaster brings you through a wormhole-like tube before taking you to see the stars. The entire ride is indoors and set in a dark room. While cruising around you see other glowing spaceships flying around you. There are a couple times during the ride where it feels as if the ride is coming to an end yet you continue to blast through a different dimension. It is definitely one of my favorite rides throughout Walt Disney World.

While walking through the exit of Space Mountain you get to see various robots conducting space missions. Here's a picture of a droid working on the MK-1 Command Center. They even had robots serving martini's.

Once you exit you get to see all of the great pictures they took of you while riding on Space Mountain. They try to make you buy the pictures but I just take pictures of the screen instead.

As you can see I was certainly thrilled.
