Metroid was the beginning of something truly great.

A whole bunch of Metroid games have come out but there are only two that still resonate with me as some of the best games ever made.

Those two are the original Metroid and also its sequel Super Metroid. I would argue that even to this day Super Metroid is among the true elite of video games.

Metroid had everything you could ever want in a game and you didn't even know you wanted it at the time.

Honestly, Metroid is probably the first exploration game that really rewarded fully exploring an entire level.

Nowadays people are doing speed runs on Metroid and finishing it in like ten minutes or less but the first time you play Metroid it probably will take you a couple of weeks or months to beat It.

That's because there are little secrets everywhere.

I think Metroid is the scariest game that had come out at that time.

The music is creepy and eerie and truly puts you into the mode of being in the game.

Instead of just playing this game it really felt like you were walking down those dark corridors fighting aliens.

Can you find the next place to go? Are you stuck here? I don't know how many times I stayed in one room for over an hour just looking for a new secret.

Sometimes you could even find one which made it all worth it.

Metroid will forever go down as one of the best games ever made.
