My car alarm is really loud.

in #busy5 years ago

Everyday I get up, get ready for work, walk out to my car, get inside and drive there.

I always lock my car before I go to bed at night. It sits outside in my driveway waiting for morning.

Today I noticed that the driver side door was unlocked even though all of the other doors were locked.

That is really strange because pressing the lock on the key ring locks all of the doors. I cannot imagine how such a situation could have occurred. Did I somehow forget to lock it?

I reached down to open the driver side door, which was staring at me with its lock up high because it was unlocked, when suddenly the alarm went off.

I pressed the red button on the key ring but it kept going off.

I pressed the yellow button on the key ring but it kept going off.

It was incredibly loud and piercing, which I guess is a good thing for a car alarm.

I couldn't figure out why my alarm was going off though. The door was clearly unlocked.

I wonder if somebody tried to break into my car last night then ran when the alarm went off?

I certainly didn't hear it but at the same time I know that I slept pretty good.

The solution to make the alarm stop buzzing was to get in the car and start the engine.

I was thinking that the car should know when the engine was started that the alarm should not be going off. I was correct in my assumption because as soon as I turned the key the alarm stopped beeping.

I can't help but wonder what it was all about though. Did somebody try to break into my car or was there just some error when locking the door?

I don't know but I can tell you one thing. My car alarm is really loud.

They are amazingly loud when you are standing next to them. LOL ... I've set mine off a time or two and then fumbled around on my key fob trying to get it off. All of the sudden it is very important to find how to shut it off fast !!! Exciting.... but not in a great way.

I once watched a grown man beat the shit out of his car, because he couldn't get the loud alarm to shut off.

On one hand it was funny, but that loud noise seemed to impact his reasoning.

It seems you were still able to think while hearing it!

I believe that they have become even louder than they once were (sounding more like ambulance air horns than they once did) and are definitely hard to turn off.

More times than not, they likely don't accomplish the purpose for which they were supposedly intended because they "cry wolf" so much that they get ignored a great deal of the time.
