The Bad Boss
There are times when the frustration just gets to be too much. We can go through life just dealing with the shit that is thrown our way but at some point we do reach a breaking point. Many things can trigger what feels like everything is crumbling down around you.
I have found over the years I have been okay. I was managing my life. I was happy with where I was, who I was, and what my family included. Then that time came where I felt like I was suffocating. It felt like there was nothing I can do to make it better. My job that I used to love turned into the job I hate. I am great at my job and there is never any appreciation for a job well done.
They say that a bad boss can make all of its workers leave. I believe this to be true. I have had some really shitty bosses in my work life. However, those bosses that were amazing and appreciated their people are the ones that I remember. The ones that take the time to recognize that no matter what job you do you will always need education on something. They would take a chance and let you educate yourself and complete a task then sit and talk with you about it.
Those bosses are rare in today's society. Swearing at someone seems to be what people think will drive a point home. I may be a 30 y/o but I would like to think I am beyond time most of the time. Engaging the people you work with to have discussions about policies, procedures or debating a specific topic does wonders for everyone involved. We are not meant to be robots at work. We are meant to educate ourselves but also promote knowledge.
That time we stop seeking new information we loose the power of knowledge. Searching for answers has always been a passion of mine. I like to help people and I like to fix problems because I believe there is answer for everything. I always tell the people I work for that we are only as good at our jobs as people let us be.
You can only be as effective as the work you do and when you hit road blocks every step of the way it makes you feel useless. Well, I have come to the conclusion that the "Bad Boss" is exactly that. A Bad Boss that sucks at their job and has no idea what it is like to be a good boss. I will not stoop to that level. I will not allow myself to be that "Bad Boss." I will continue to promote knowledge among my peers along with their development to become better at their job.
The bosses that I have had that showed me the way to be a great boss are the ones I will remember. The lessons taught by those people were amazing and I will always be grateful for those. So to the "Bad Bosses," I say the hell with you. We are coming to get rid of you and we will succeed. Your days are numbered.
