What is immigration?

Immigration is the act of moving to another sovereignty in search of greener pastures such as education, job opportunities etc.
It is also the act of leaving your country to another country to settle.

Reasons why people immigrate

There are several reasons why people immigrate to another country. Here are some of the highlights:

1. Employment Opportunities: Different people migrate to other countries in search of better job opportunities. For instance, in Nigeria where the economy is depreciating, no jobs, most graduates are jobless and lucky one gets a job in another country, the only option is to migrate to another country and explore your horizon and skills.
2. Education: There is a saying that goes, "if you think education is expensive, try ignorance". So many people migrate to another country for better degrees and expand their knowledge. It could be masters degree, PhD or to gain knowledge in other field of study.
3. Environmental Factors: In a country where there is environmental conditions such as tsunami,flood, earthquakes etc. Residence tend to migrate to the neighboring country till the whole condition is rectified.
4. Violence situation/ Conflict: In most countries where there is war, most citizens tend to migrate to the neighboring country with their family and stage for sometime till the war is over.
5. Health Care Service: Most people migrate to other countries inorder to get adequate health care services and surgeries such as kidney transplant, orthotopic cardiac surgery and other health care services.
6. Greener Pastures: Most people migrate to other countries to find greener pastures. Some countries have poor economy, so most citizens migrate to other countries inorder to cater for themselves and family.
7. Recreational Activities/Adventures: Most people migrate to other countries for Adventures and tour, visit some exciting places,try out new dishes, have some vacation. Some migrate for religious activities and conferences. Most countries like Paris, are mostly visited by couples to spend sometime with their partners and have fun, see Beautiful places and visit recreational parks.

Challenges faced by immigrants

• Most immigrants experience the challenge of language barrier.
• Most immigrants experience the challenge of religious background.
• Most immigrants experience the challenge of accomodation and currency especially when the currency of your own country is lower.
• Most immigrants exprience the challenges of food, clothes and Cultural belief.
• Most immigrants experience racism in some countries.
• Most immigrants experience challenges of climatic change, weather especially where the country have continental climate such as canada.
• Most immigrants experience the challenge of adapting to some cultures.

Benefits of Immigration

1. It broadens the horizon of immigrants especially the once that went for further study.
2. Immigration increases a country's productivity.
3. Immigration helps to increase the size of the labor force.
4. Immigration helps to generate the standard of living.
5. Immigration contributes to innovation.

Why do many immigrants discover that their dreams in the foreign country cannot easily be realized

• They discover the discrimination between blacks and white( racism) and most countries doesn't accept blacks to work in their firms or establishment.
• Some situations when there is lack of funds to cater for your needs and no firm accepts you to work for them, the fustration is usually high to bear.

Have you ever considered immigrating to another country

Migrating to another country have being part of my dreams but haven't come through though. I will consider migrating to another country to broaden my horizons and further my studies.

Conclusion

Immigration have really helped so many people discover their abilities and skills, made so many achieve things they couldn't achieve in their country and in turn the knowledge of some immigrants have helped in the scientific and technological sector of so many countries.
