Have you been to Franschhoek? Wine tourism

I love misty mornings. That crisp cold wind that wakes you up. More than anything, I love misty days in the countryside. I grew up in a farm and we lived near a hill so this takes me back to those days. However, nothing beats cold mornings out in the winelands.

We were staying in this beautiful hotel called Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek, South Africa. Because we got here late at night, I woke up extra early to take a walk round the property. The lodge has this amazing set up where you can walk around the town. The previous evening, I did some exploring and stumbled into some craft beer restaurant where I met some great people and had a nice time.

The hotel has many rooms and these well-manicured lawns and gardens. They also have a great bar with an impressive wine list.

Although we were traveling as a group, we all came from different parts of the world. It is always great to explore by yourself. I woke up at six and did a 30-minute run, managed to get back to take a shower and take some cool photos of the property.

Soon after, I get to the bus because we have an exciting day planned. We are going for a scooter tour of Franschhoek with a company called Scootours South Africa. Here, we took a scenic tour of the vineyards. There were people o help us out every step of the way. This was so much fun.

Later that day we got to meet and have dinner with Franschhoek producers Marozanne Bieldt of Haute Espoir, Clayton Reabow of Moreson, Hagen Viljoen of Solms-Delta and Gottfried Mocke of Boekenhoutskloof at The Garden Room at Le Quartier Français.
