The alarm woke me up by 7am,I said my morning prayer, fetched water, prepared for work, warmed the food that was remaining last night, ate and set out for work. I only knew the name of the workshop I was going to and the local government it's in but I didn't know how to get there. With the boldness of a Lagosian that can never get lost,I set out.

I entered a cab going to Iwo Road,20mins and I was still the only one in the cab ahhh this one can not make me have a bad first impression I considered taking a bike but I saw a coursemate of mine that showed me an alternative route. I entered keke, stopped at express then entered a bus to Iwo Road. I tried to communicate with the woman beside me to know where exactly to drop but she doesn't understand English and I don't understand Yoruba. I shaa stopped at Iwo Road,I had same issue with two people I approached, they were just nodding. Now I knew that I had to be selective, finally found someone that looks learned and he directed me to the place. It was a long walk as I had dropped at the wrong place.

The company wasn't what I expected, the I.T supervisor made it sound tush like one big company that will be using automatic machines and a.c. I introduced myself, they already knew the name awww fantastic seems they have been awaiting my arrival. I got to meet two other guys from my faculty that I will be working with, they are cool.

I did a little survey, every item there is damn heavy

even the smallest ones.Work began, we were asked to drill a rod to allow exist of steam from it. The guy in charge thought us how to go about it then left,we were to take turns, the 3 I.T students. I was still feeling relaxed, thinking that mine will be smaller or I won't be asked to drill for were?

I drilled so much that I almost drilled out the life in me,my hand and legs were aching, adding to the fact that I have issues with standing for long.

I thought it was over, there came another rod,we drilled again,

I spent my whole day drilling, now I have headache and am so tired. Am scared for tomorrow, we will be welding and I was asked to come along with paracetamol, hope I will make it home alife, this one they are already advising me to buy drugs.

It was fun shaa, the workers and managing director is nice,as the only lady there I kinda had most of the attention. They all speak Yoruba and promised me that I will speak Yoruba fluently before I leave permanently.

HOW TO DRILL

DSC_2704.JPG

  1. select the drill size for the job you want to do and fix it in
2.Mark out the places you want to drill.
3.Make sure the rod or metal is firmly placed on the stand.
3.turn the chunk key clockwise until the drill is directly on the marked spot.
4.Apply pressure for the drill to cut into the metal.
5.Release the pressure when the work is almost done.
6.Allow the drill to cut in until hole is created.
7.Turn the chunk key anti-clockwise to remove it from the hole.
8.Move the metal to the next spot and repeat the process.

N.B Ensure that you turn off the machine when you are done and remove the chunk key to avoid it flying off and causing hazard when the machine is turn on.
Make use of safety precautions.
