The architecture responds to the demand to solve the needs of housing, religious worship and recreation that has the human being. It is divided, therefore in two large groups: Religious architecture and Profane architecture.

In general, the task of architecture is to achieve the perfect proportions that satisfy, simultaneously, the proposals of a practical and aesthetic nature. That is why it is the function of architecture to plan cities, parks, landscapes and the most relevant movements with harmony, efficacy and beauty.

The historical development of architecture has always followed impositions of the dominant social groups, rich and powerful of each epoch (kings, bishops, bourgeoisie banking.) As the hegemony of one or other prevailed, the architecture was more functional, religious, military or utilitarian.

It is also necessary to add the influx of the climate, the firmness of the soil (seismic or not) and the Atmospheric conditions in the architectural monumentality.

The large stones located outdoors were the first architectural materials in the pre-history. They were called dolmen. Then it was the mud mixed with stone. Also the adobe, the brick and the wood. The stonemasons learned to polish the stone and became the primordial element until the cement and the current bill appeared.

Urban architecture, i.e. when the study and planning of modern cities is applied, is one of the branches of art and is decisive for the quality of human life.

Urbanism:

It refers to the technical and artistic structuring that seeks to harmonize the artistic, functional and recreational interests of cities. The main elements to be considered are: Streets or avenues, squares, public buildings and parks.

The large human concentrations in the cities require intelligent planning of spaces for pedestrians, cars, community efficiency and taste. All this is what constitutes the configuration of a city: permissible height, width of the roadways, symmetry, emplacements of the ornamental movements, squares, green zones.
The Greek and Roman cities had a lattice architecture, that is to say, it was from an axis or center (square) and from there the streets were divided more or less symmetrical according to the terrain. This was the model that Spain imposed in the new cities that founded in America. It is enough to observe the various bolivar squares of our populations to verify the reticular scheme.

Beginning in the twentieth century, when Caracas, Maracaibo or Valencia began their expansion, new forms were decreed, such as the fungi-type urbanizations, almost closed in themselves.
In the Indigenous Architecture The Churuata points to the center of family and communal life. The villages, always small are those that make up the Churuata or "Ranches" of palm and wood. There are no luxury monuments.

In the Colonial Urban Architecture On the other hand, the urban center is set by the main square flanked by the cathedral on one side, the city council, the governorate and the police or school to the other sides.

The Modern Urban Architecture incorporates the dowel, cement and new technological probabilities (cranes, ladies, among others) instead of the house arises the building and the cities grow incorporating new urbanizations where previously there were haciendas of coffee or cane.
