Nintendo announces new core Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch

in #gaming7 years ago

At their E3 event today, Pokemon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara announced development of a "core RPG" Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch which "may not release for more than a year." This will mark the first time a "core" Pokemon game has been released for a home console (though the Switch transcends the home/portable distinction).

Nintendo had recently announced the release of fighting game Pokken Tournament DX for the Switch, depsite some speculation that the Nintendo-focused announcement event would unveil a new "core" series game.

The timing alluded to by Ishihara seems to indicate a release around the 2018 holiday season.

Any speculation on whether this is a Sun and Moon port or an entirely new entry?
