Shift Your Focus To Wellness

Hello everyone. It's only been a few short weeks since the new year has started. With many resolutions on the table, weight loss is at the top of the list. It's no secret that there are more overweight Americans today that there was even ten year years ago. As everyone crowds, the gym hoping to lose significant amounts of weight in a month or two, is this productive? No. It's not. Sure, if you go to the gym on a regular basis you will probably lose some weight and may even gain some muscle too. However, this is short-lived, and unless you change your focus for the long haul, you will be right back where you started in a matter of 12 months or less.

How You Look Vs. How Much You Weigh

Focus on your overall appearance. How is your hair? Face? Clothing? There's an old cliche' that when you look good, you feel good and it's true. When you focus on your overall appearance, you begin to love yourself just the way you are. It doesn't mean that you're not conscious of your weight loss goals, but you're just not worried about it all day every day. It won't be long before you start to appreciate yourself and when you do reach your goals, you will have enjoyed the journey to your destination.

What You Eat Vs. How Much You Work Out

Like I said, hitting the gym on a regular basis is only part of the battle. It's a hit or miss when it comes to weight loss, but watching what you eat is a definite. Every time you pick up your fork you are either moving closer to or from your goals. You might only workout 3-4 times a week, but you get the opportunity to eat 3-4 days a day. With each day, take baby steps with your eating habits. Start with your breakfast and work your way into better choices for your lunch and snacks. Over time these practices become natural to you and are a lot easier to complete than going to the gym. This also helps you to stay focused on your overall wellness.

How Happy You Are Vs. How Miserable You Are

No matter how big or small your goals are its key to stay positive. You will have some ups and downs along the way, but remember to shift your mind and focus on the positive things ahead. Think about how far you have come in the last week or two or even a few days. Think about all of the good things that are to come as a result of you taking charge of wellness and quality of living.

So as your strive towards improving your health this year remember to set your mind to wellness. Take care of your whole self first and let the pounds fall wherever they may.
