Antique Firetruck Engagement

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Created in 2014, this image was taken around the time I started to realize I was pushing my little Rebel T2i to its max.

Wedding business was picking up, as was portrait business, and the camera body just couldn't keep up. Plus, I was really craving a full frame sensor.

It may sound funny, but realizing exactly what it was that I needed out of my next piece a gear was a giant growth point in my career as a photographer.

Many times, we photographers get caught up in thinking the next piece of gear is somehow going to magically make us better artists. I had that mindset a little in the beginning with lenses, never really stopping to take the time to really learn the capabilities of the lens I had before my eyes wandered to a new, shinier one.

I upgraded shortly after this session, but it is still one of my favorites. These two retired fire trucks were hanging out not too far from where @winstonwolfe and I took this image (Click here).

The subjects are my niece and her then fiance (now husband) during their firefighter themed engagement session.

The lighting is really nice in this shot. Though I am huge fan of shadows and silhouettes in general.

Very nice shot.

@jazzyfish, really cool shot. Love how the couple seems to be holding the firetrucks together.

Really cool to think that two people can forge a relationship that lasst as long as these trucks are old!

Wow!
Great shot! I love the fire trucks.
