I realised from friends and family that normally in the start of the year most of us backtrack and cherish all the things we have done in the last 12 months. But some of us also wish we had done more. I’m not an exception. I wish I was a bit more creative so that’s why I wanted to start blogging.

So here it goes!

Hi everyone! My name is Jayson, and I became a dad when I was 19. Hopefully this blog will help people who are about to experience the same thing or is currently going through the same thing. Also just something people can read who are just generally curious on how being a teen dad is.

This is how my everything started.

Last year in April, my life changed as it wasn’t just me anymore. I was gifted the opportunity to be a Dad. Of course I was petrified, not only being 19 years old but having the responsibilities of taking care of a child too!

This was 9 months ago and if I was able to change anything in these last 9 months I wouldn’t change any of it. As each second from the point when my baby was born has been the best moments of my life (so far).

I couldn’t be a more proud dad seeing my child grow up as each day he becomes bigger and smarter.

Saying all that, there are so many things I want to share; being lucky enough to be able to be a teen dad, things I’ve learned so far in my and my family’s journey, like how it is to be a young family and things I personally had to learn and realise; we as humans just have to face being adults.

But for the sake of summarising on How To Teen Dad:

• Be a teenager.
• Take responsibility.
• Love your baby with all your heart.
• Love and care for the baby.
• Learn really bad jokes eg: “I was going to name my baby Jack, but if I was in a plane with him and said hi Jack.” People might flip.
• Tell the joke then laugh at your own joke.
• Lastly look in the mirror, you are a dad now.
