Very intriguing. The ice melting too fast on the poles is something that I see as major danger too. The average amount ice in Antarctica is a bit more than 26km³, which means a weight 26 million tons. If they melt too fast, the weight gone would lead the continental plate to basically swim on the lava deep below the surface layer. It's very unlikely to happen (especially fast = <20 years), but if it happens it might have desastrous results with big earthquakes, volcano outbreaks and floods.
On the submarine issue, I have seen a video where an expert says the map and u-boat instructions were a hoax designed to fool the allies. His argument was that given the permanently changing structure of the, the instructions were only useful for a short period of time. Maybe 2-3 months and after that the plan would have been a death trap for the boat. Don't know enough about that, but it does sound like it makes sense.
