RE: Nature, curiosity, sensitivity, and healing

in OCD6 years ago

We are supposed to engage here on Steem? ;)

There is a natural magnetism which we all share for the magnificence of mother nature and her carefree "unpredictability" as you phrased it. I will not attempt to reiterate what you have already said because you hit the nail on the head when you said this...

A flash of insight comes—spontaneous revelation—after which we are concerned with reducing this inexplicable sensation down to something comprehensible; we desire to communicate something tangible that will make us known to others in a way that pays homage to and expands our sense of self. We seek subconsciously to feel our kinship with the chaotic perfection of the natural world of which we are inextricably a part.

The thing is though, that to my mind - in many respects we almost "kill" the euphoric magnitude of the experience when we attempt to communicate it... because somehow we almost always fall short. A little like a photograph of a sunset or landscape never truly doing any justice to the vibrancy of hues experienced first hand... and whilst still beautiful to look at, there is always that little bit of disappointment inside us because we really wanted to share the reality of what we saw with our own eyes. This behaviour can often be a repetitive trait and to be frank - almost obsessive, which is sad because it actually robs us of the experience itself.

Life as we know it today has conditioned us with two leading characteristics - ego and insecurity - neither of which is food for the soul, yet we repeatedly pander to the former which in turn breeds the latter.

Sometimes we simply need to be still.
Let go.
Absorb and experience.

Become completely present, leaving our shallow, nagging and unfulfilling obsessions behind. - that is when we are able to step out of the cage we built and "recharge" our spirits.

we become dependent on external phenomena to carry us somewhere and forget to use the wings of our spirit. We make ourselves caged birds in mute resignation. We become skilled self-hypnotists and whisper convincing untruths that paint a bleak mural over the walls of the small rooms in which we crouch, hunched into a corner, manically keeping ourselves busy to distract ourselves from the brilliance we inherently radiate which blinds our cave-adjusted eyes.

^^^ Yes! That! ^^^

I suppose, in essence I am saying exactly what you did, which I said I would not do lol - and probably shouldn't have, because it pales by comparison... hmmm and I should stop doing that too - (comparing) - it is starting to sound like I need to go take a walk somewhere and recharge myself ;) lol.

This was a beautiful post in its entirety - embodying a very powerful message which we should all be reminded of on a more regular basis.

I am repeatedly in awe of your writing @d-pend. There is a calm, gentle and meticulous beauty about the way in which you put "pen to paper". Your energetic presence is very strong within your words - so much so, that one can almost place themselves precisely where you sat and wrote it, experiencing "you" in that specific moment of time.

...It is always an experience.

Wow... This is an amazing, insightful and profound commentary. Excellent penetration and analysis.
Chapeau!
