Got to Jam

in #music7 years ago

Now that I’m home in a house with my roots growing deeper into the soil here each day, I fill my time with a lot of things. I’m trying to stay balanced and not reach my interests and time in too many directions but I find that they grow chaotic if I don’t at least think about where I’m headed from time to time. I keep trying to slim down my interests as they creep into new uncharted territories.

Tonight I took one of those interests a step further, into the realm of music. I joined a jam. I’ve fallen for the bass and doing this helps me get a few steps further into a silly little dream I’ve carried around with me for a while. Simply playing music with others. I prefer, “playing with music”. And sinking up with other musicians at this jam was a magical experience. And it gives me confidence. After interviews with friends over the past couple weeks I’ve thought a lot more about music and my connection to it.

Regularly throughout my travels, the idea of, “create, don’t just consume” came up often. I left that year long adventure with a few principles in tow and this was one. I began to write but not just write and hide it. I began to write and share it. I have Steemit to thank for that really, Steemit because this is where I was able to connect with others who want to create too. My mind is expanding. I want to create in many realms. From writing, to playing music, to growing gardens, and building community, I have my hands in many baskets.

Life's about little steps that add up, I've read that quite a bit recently too. So my tiny step forward for tonight goes for the creation of music with friends. I hope I have some music to share with you all sometime soon. For now, just a simple hello from me and my bass (and a lazy Trill Dog).

It's all about that bass, bout that bass, bout that bass... :-)
That's a rather nice looking acoustic bass! I've never had one of those, I've only had electric basses. I know that thing is going to be fun to play!

I just picked it up for $40 on craigslist! It's an acoustic electric. It's fun to play for sure. Right between the electric and the standup! How sweet to have a Steemit friend who also plays bass!

40 bucks, that's a really good deal!
I used to be in a local classic rock band in the 1980s and 90s. It was a lot of fun most of the time.
Crazy me, I always thought it would be interesting to have 2 bass players and 1 guitar player in a band, just to see what would happen. :-)
I'm thinking there would be some good grooves going...

I think that there need to be more bands with two bassists ( ;

I know, right?

Grate @jaujaujeffery....I also want this, sounds so grate you found ways to get your creative side in and out.. Best of luck and wishes to you on this journey!

with regards
Sofia
