Flashback to surviving one of the biggest cyclone

in #life6 years ago

Being a lawyer and photographer, I mostly write about legal issues or share my clicks as i see them. But today, I would like to go off the track and would share with your my experience to one of the most hazardous cyclone " Hud Hud" that I survived.

I was living in vizag ( Vishakhapatnam) back then, where the cyclone took place. I was a student and was pursuing my LLB from DSNLU college there. Since the city is in coastal areas, it is full of humidity and hot summers all through the year and people are habitual of small and minor cyclones there.

But thistime, we got an official announcement from the government that a cyclone which hey names as " Hud Hud" is approaching and we all were warned to be careful and stay safe.

My home is a small time in Rajasthan, and my home and my city share a difference of aound 2800 kms in between. And that's wh my family was even more worried for me then me. They asked me to take the first flight and come home. But I got stuck as flights were cancelled. So I had no choice but to stay.

It was not a big deal for me as I thought it won't be that hard and we all will survive easily. But I was wrong. It was after witnessing the damange, seeing people die and their dead bodies floating, no electricty, no networks, nothing to eat made me wish if I could go home.

The cyclone was strong enough to uproot all the trees there. I saw videos where the cars were falling off from the building. The house getting smugged to the ground. I even witnessed dead bodies floating in the water. I would say, one of the worst sight to remember.

I got some pictures fro the time, that are still with me. Seeing the picture you might feel the danger and the damage we were in..

But I must appreciate the government of Andhra Pradesh. Within two days of hud hud gone, repair and maintenance of the city was started and within six months the city was more beautiful than before. The communication lines were repaired within two days on urgent basis and electricity was back within two days too.

I managed to get some after before pictures from google to show you guys.

After the hud hud was done, and flights and trains were back on work, the first thing I did was going home. The whole thing made me realize my love for my family and vice a versa.

It was a thrilling experience that I don't want to experience more in my whole life. I hope nobody goes through that. Had you too experienced somethig like this in your life ??

Must be a really threatening experience. Isn't it?? But taking it to the positive side, I think you must have learned a lot from the experience. ;)

Goodness gracious!
Those photis showing the damage of the cyclones were very scary! Trees were totally uprooted!
How many days were you stuck without food, water and electricity?!

I hope you’ll never have to witness such tragedy again! You have such a loving family!!
God bless!

Wow, that's incredibly devastating! I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but I'm glad you got something good out of the experience. Take care.
