Several places in Marrakech combines Arabo Andalusian architecture, sumptuous interior decoration and garden art. The Bahia Palace is the most fantastic of all.

History of the Bahia Palace in Marrakech
It was in 1900 at the time of its most sumptuous construction and the great palace of Morocco:
- 150 pieces, a richly decorated part with floral paintings and sculptures,
- Several gardens planted with orange trees, palm trees, flowers...
- A wide court of 50 meters on 30 ...

Built by a father and son, chamberlain and then regent of the Sultan (the most powerful men of the country after the king), the palace was intended for the son's mistress. Bahia means "the beautiful, the brilliant".
Beginning in 1912 during the French protectorate in Morocco, General Lyautey (once again the most powerful man in the country) made it his personal residence and that of other officers. Fireplaces, heating and electricity are added.

Bahia Palace today
The gardens are the most pleasant, charming places lined with rosemary, orange trees, grapefruit and various yellow, red, violet flowers. A little paradise of freshness for us and the birds.
Inside the palace of the rooms emptied of their furniture, zelliges, frames painted with vegetable, floral and geometric motifs heading. The place is majestic.
Today only part of the palace is visited, another sometimes welcomes the royal family or foreign dignitaries. Concerts are also organized.
Beautiful architecture! I'd love to visit some day.
