The Most Important Lessons I've Learned About Building Meaningful Relationships As An Entrepreneur

in #relationships5 years ago

As an entrepreneur, I have met a lot of people, and developed great relationships. No matter how great an entrepreneur you are, or a person you, and you isolate yourself from others, you may not succeed. You need others to succeed.

You need others to learn from, buy into your ideas, even purchase your ideas. You need to ensure you blossom meaningful relationships, and one border on having a great relationship with a mentor. As an entrepreneur or a person that wants to succeed, you must have a great relationship with a mentor in your field. The mentor had gone before you, faced the problems you have and succeeded. They can help you grow faster, solve problems easier and climb the ladder of success quickly.

With a mentor, you can quickly gain insight into your career, and what it may entail. A significant relationship with the right mentor allows you to grow, improve and get challenged on your way to success.

Getting to find a mentor may not be easy and sometimes, may feel uncomfortable, but the lessons I have learned from such a meaningful relationship that it will benefit me greatly. This made me forget the awkward part, and search for the mentor. It is important to know that you are the one that may benefit from the relationship more than the mentor, that's why you should be more interested in ensuring the connection works.

Learn to receive constructive feedback

With my relationship with my mentor and others, I had to learn to receive constructive feedback. Though it was not easy to have my weaknesses discussed and exposed. I was uncomfortable about it, but it allowed me to grow, and improve on them. Finding a mentor that is not shy to discuss your weaknesses and how you can work on them is very important. You want to grow; you need to hear the truth. That doesn't mean you should opt for a mentor that is not safe and always negative. You don't want someone that will destroy your self-confidence. Constructive feedback will allow you to learn skills, and get to your goals quickly.

Having a mentor allows you to network well.

One can't stress the importance of networking. Some people may confuse it with social network connections. It is effortless to meet one on social media, but it may not yield you the opportunity you need. A lot of people falsify relationships there better. You want to add value to yourself or career; a mentor can help you to develop better relationships.
Your mentor will give you access to other networks that you are not used to, that can help you in your career. Never turn up an opportunity to network. The persons you meet there may add value to your life in the future.

The relationships I entered into taught me to be consistent.

Sometimes, we may be unable to tell what makes us stand out from the crowd. Changing like a chameleon is not great. I learned that from my mentors and other meaningful relationships. You have a strong point, harness it and work on it. This will help you get established in your career, and even develop your personal life.

You learn how to solve problems

Developing a great relationship with mentors can help you solve problems efficiently. You learn a lot of things from them quickly. Instead of making mistakes, they are there to show you how not to make the errors. Cherish them because they are the reservoir of knowledge since they have been in the game longer than you.
