It is actually very easy to increase a user's information and because it is very easy to increase, it becomes "flawed". I'll explain later why I can say the reputation system here is flawed.

The reputation system is based on how much you receive votes from your comment or post being published. The more votes you receive, the bigger chance your reputation gets boosted. But the votes are actually having a lot of factors to consider. These are the following :

- The amount of Steem Power of a user who casted a vote on your comment/post.

The more Steem power you have, the more "vest" you also have. Reputation points are generally how much "Accumulated Vest" votes you receive along the way. Upvotes are generally "addition" and downvotes "subtracts" the total vest you receive, which is very important parameter in determining your reputation growth.

- The Voting power of the user when a vote is casted

With the currently algorithm, when you vote at 100%, your voting power will decrease by 2%. It needs 2.4 hours to restore that 2% you casted. So everyday, you are technically allowed to vote at most 10 times of 100% vote weight per day. The more you vote, the lesser the voting power you have and "the lesser vote value it becomes".  So voting power is also a determinant of how much "Vest" you receive from a user who upvotes your comment/post.

- The voting percentage set on the vote (Voting weight)

When you have atleast 500 effective Steem power in your account, you will receiving a slider when you throw an upvote. That gives you an ability to scale your vote. I mentioned that technically you are only allowed ten 100% votes per day. You can make it 20 votes but at 50%, so on and so forth.

The bigger voting percentage set (provided a good amount of Steem power) the more vest your receive which will boost your reputation.

Now why I can say it is flawed?

When you want to increase your reputation, you can simply use "Bidbot services". Bid bot services are services in the Steem blockchain which will allow you to buy votes. Send SBD/Steem together with the URL as a memo, the bot will upvote your post based on how much you sent a bid.

That was kind of flaw for me. If anyone remembers the "Byteball airdrop" where they actually based the amount of token a user receives from a user's reputation was the time that bots are generally very abused. They use bidbots to increase their reputations by sending bids.
