Two patients were given the opportunity of a lifetime! This drug helps manage and prevent type one diabetes. The University health board of Clinical Research Facility aims to help the regrowth of insulin. Making ‘beta’ cells of the pancreas, which are lost in patients living with the disease. This will stop of the process of having to inject yourself with insulin constantly! The benefits of the new drug would reduce lifelong conditions and complications associated with the chronic disease.
They currently have 2 people who have been given this medicine and in 72 hours no side effects were shown. This process has taken years to master but hopefully Type 1 diabetes will no longer be a threat! :)
