Before - A POEM

My soul has been a thousand times
it will be a thousand more
I know this to be true, my friends
I feel it at my core.
I've been a pirate on the seas
and a highwayman on land
Adventure always in my blood
a weapon in my hand.
Fate has destined me a task
to which I must complete
until such time as that is done
my soul will just repeat
Over and over and on and on
the cycle will not end
Until such time that fate decides
that I have met my wend.
Each time I suffer memories
of times that were before
In dreams I dream of who I was
of vessels I have wore
My dreams are those of fantasy
unchivalrous and bold
Until I mete my destiny
My fate is still untold.
