Harmattan Skin tips...
While some parts of the world are suffering from cold and snow, here in Nigeria, we are in the harmattan season. This season comes with a cold-dry, dusty, wind blowing sand and dust everywhere.
As for me, my skin is glowing and looking so healthy right now. This is one part of the year that I take more precaution with my skin.
Extra measures are needed to protect the skin against this harsh weather. Most skin at this time can be best described as dry, ashy, whitish, dull and unattractive BUT, thank God there is something you can do about that. Ensure your skin is always Moisturized to avoid cracking and dryness. I recommend that you carry some of your moisturising products and oils around during the day for you to re-apply when needed.
Harmattan Tips:
1). Use a mild soap or wash on your face and body. Harsh soaps will remove the natural oils from your skin and make it dryer.
2). Invest in a body oil to retain moisture on your skin after you take a bathe. DO NOT completely dry your skin after a shower or bathe, apply your moisturiser to your damp skin to lock in moisture.
3). You can pour drops of oil into your bathe water before taking a bathe.
4). Apply oils on your feet and heels as these areas are often neglected and look ashy.
5). Apply hand cream during the day and night before going to bed. Always keep your hand cream handy around you during this season especially.
6). Moisturize your face even if your face is oily. The tendency is that your oily face is a bit dry this season so it needs extra moisturizing.
7). Invest in a lip balm or lip salve (Not lip gloss). Vaseline is also a handy substitute.
8). Keep yourself hydrated by drinking water frequently.
9). Wear sunglasses when you're outdoors to keep the dust out of your eyes.
10). Some of your best products will be oils, moisturizers that hydrate, body butters and shear butter.
