VEGGIES ARE OUT. Carrots hugging each other.

Hi everyone,

There is no escaping it now the days are getting shorter and temperatures are feeling much cooler. That refreshing breeze of
autumn is a sure way to blow away the cobwebs. We have been busy digging over the soil and putting the plot to bed. We also got all the rubbish taken away and the plot is looking great. Everyone down on the allotment has been commenting on how nice the plot is looking and there is so much more space now.

The carrots that I planted did not turn out to well. I know what went wrong but I guess that's what it's all about; plant,learn and try again. As you can see with the pictures it was hugs all round for the carrots.;-)

Here are some facts about carrots-

1-Mel Blanc, the voice of cartoon character Bugs Bunny, reportedly did not like carrots.

2-People first grew carrots as medicine, not food, for a variety of ailments.

3-The word carrot is first recorded in English in a 1538 book of herbs.

4-The part of the carrot that we eat is called the taproot.

5-When first cultivated, carrots were grown for their leaves and seeds rather than their roots which is what we now think of as carrots.
