When we first moved we had a satellite but it never worked. Wifi provider won't even come to our home. Says we are too far out. So we have verizon hotspots. We got unlimited and it works really well for a 1 week a month :)
When we moved from California to Idaho, we were able to make the move because my husband was working from home. However, finding the kind of property we wanted with internet service was a challenge. We ended up putting up a telephone pole with a strong antenna so that we would have reliable service. It was an absolute necessity because of his work, but it didn't cost as much as we expected it to. Perhaps ask your local provider if that would help? I'll ask my hubby for more details and pass them along to you.
howdy today @thefarmerswife! what the??? well then you guys really are doing the extraordinary with that primitive set up! and you've checked out the new Hughesnet? they claim to be anywhere in the country now.
